Green the Great West Walk – Backhousia Bushland Reserve, Northmead
June 16 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pmFree
About this event
We’re heading to Toongabbie Creek to green a section of the Great West Walk with native vegetation!
The Great West Walk (GWW) officially opened in 2019 and stretches 65km from Parramatta to the foot of the Blue Mountains. The track passes traverses local river systems, public parklands, Australia’s oldest architecture and the endangered ecological communities like the Cumberland Plain woodland.
Our plantings will help revegetate an important habitat corridor along Toongabbie Creek, which will allow small birds, microbats, and other native animals travel through the landscape. This is your chance to get involved improving your local environment and stretch of GWW track.
Please wear long sleeves, long pants, closed sturdy shoes and a hat / sunscreen, and bring at least 2 litres of drinking water. Also, please bring your own gardening gloves for COVID-19 safety considerations.
On-site training, tools, and refreshments will be provided.
RSVPs are essential. Due to COVID-19 the number of participants for this event is restricted, so to avoid disappointment register ASAP.
Instructions on parking and exact meeting point will be provided to those who have registered. You will need to arrange your own transportation to Westmead Hospital.
All children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
