Wilkins Green Habitat Planting – Stage 1
May 15 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pmFree
Help build habitat at Wilkins Green
Wilkins Green School and Community Garden in partnership with Greater Sydney Landcare Network, are bringing native ecosystems back to our neighbourhood. We’re planting over 800 mid-story shrubs to provide habitat for small birds and pollinators, and create an eco-learning space.
About this event:
Wilkins Green is a large school and community garden on the grounds of Wilkins Public School, Marrickville. It is an urban oasis, a magical outdoor classroom where kids can immerse in the natural world with edible gardens, native regeneration bushland, a chook run, an orchard and an aboriginal yarning circle.
This event is the first of a 2 staged planting aiming to rehabilitate rare urban bushland at Wilkins Green. Stage 1 will focus on restoring heath and rainforest vegetation communities along a ridge onsite.
