Our program is currently offered for young people aged 18–35 years.
You’ll assist with a range of events, including tree planting, bush regeneration, campouts, educational stalls at markets and festivals, and on-ground support for Greater Sydney Landcare and partner events.
All events focus on environmental restoration, education and/or community outreach.
Yes! We’ll discuss your interests and provide details about events beforehand so you can see what duties are involved and decide what you’d like to be part of.
No, we’re completely flexible. We’ll contact you with reasonable notice (about two weeks) to check your availability. If you can’t make it, no worries—we have a diverse volunteer team to ensure roles are filled.
No previous experience is required! We’ll provide training opportunities to help you run events, along with on-the-job learning. Additional training opportunities are also available for registered volunteers. Enthusiasm for the environment and community is a big plus!
As a volunteer, you’ll have access to free and discounted government-recognized certifications, such as Working with Children Check, First Aid Certificate, National Police Check, and more.
The distance you travel is up to you. We’ll try to assign you to events closer to your location whenever possible.
You’ll need your own transport to attend events. If this is an issue, let us know, and we’ll try to arrange carpooling where possible—though we can’t guarantee it.
Yes! If you see an event you’re interested in but haven’t heard from us yet, feel free to email us. While we can’t guarantee your placement, it’s very likely we can include you.

Absolutely! We can provide a formal letter recognizing your volunteer hours and contributions anytime to support your resume or professional needs.
This program offers a unique opportunity for volunteers to go beyond simply attending events. As a dedicated volunteer worker, you will be an integral part of running our events from the ground up.
For example: Instead of just planting a tree, you’ll be the one leading tree planting sessions, educating fellow volunteers on best practices, organizing planting schedules, and ensuring the day runs smoothly. All while receiving support from your coordinators at each event, you will never be alone or expected to run things by yourself!
You can also be involved in facilitating cleanups, coordinating logistics, and providing on-the-ground support throughout the event. This is a step up from regular volunteering as an attendee—where you’re not just participating, but helping to make the event a success. These volunteer roles are more than just impactful—they are critical in driving Greater Sydney Landcare’s vision of connecting communities to the environment. You’ll be able to make a direct difference in conservation efforts, working alongside Landcare Coordinators and other passionate volunteers to create lasting change. This is your chance to be a leader in environmental restoration, gain valuable skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that benefit not only our natural habitats but also the communities around them.
Signing up is simple! Just fill out our short Expression of Interest form.
Once submitted, our Coordinator will contact you via phone or email (your choice) to discuss details such as duties, job/event preferences, availability, and other essential information.
We may arrange a quick video call or in-person meeting—whatever works best for you. After that, you’ll be added to our volunteer list and contacted whenever a suitable event or opportunity comes up.
