FREE Koala Research Opportunity

Are you a resident of Silverdale, Werombi, Orangeville, The Oaks, Oakdale, or Lakesland? Do you live nearby bushland or along the edges of the Lower Blue Mountains, and have always been curious about the wildlife around you? Have you seen koalas or evidence of koalas within your area?

Here’s your chance to contribute to koala research right from your own property.

We Need Your Help

We’re thrilled to announce funding opportunities for installing audio monitoring devices on your property, courtesy of the Greater Sydney Landcare’s Southwest Sydney Koala Project and the NSW Koala Strategy.

What is Audio Monitoring For?

Audio monitoring a fantastic way to detect evidence of koala presence in your area. By simply listening to the sounds of the bush, we can gather valuable data for koala research and gain insights into primary koala habitat within Western Sydney, the range of their population, and indicate how many koalas are within the area.

Get Involved Today

This is a FREE opportunity for interested residents. Don’t miss out on the chance to be part of something meaningful and make a positive impact on koala conservation efforts.

About the Southwest Sydney Koala Project

Greater Sydney Landcare received funding from the NSW Government to help deliver the NSW Koala Strategy across the Campbelltown and Appin/Wilton areas.

The Southwest Sydney Koala Project includes conservation efforts such as encouraging connectivity with corridor plantings that include preferred koala food trees on private and public property. Numerous other conservation actions will be carried out in this partnership program between July 2022 and June 2026, including road kill mitigation, wildlife carer support, community engagement and awareness raising and education.
