On Wednesday 11 August 2021, Creating Canopies planted 2,000 canopy trees and shrubs at Milson Park in Westmead.

This planting took place during the first stage of the Creating Canopies project, which ran from 2020 to 2022 and saw more than 100,000 canopy trees and shrubs planted across Greater Sydney during that time.

This mammoth effort paid off as the trees are thriving!

How Do The Trees Look Today?

In early March 2024, Creating Canopies Project Manager Danielle Packer visited Milson Park in Westmead and was pleased with what she found.

Danielle Packer said, “This planting has gone very well, the trees look very healthy and have grown significantly.”

“This planting is great because it extends remnant bushland that is close to Toongabbie Creek and it is providing more habitat for local wildlife.”

“As the years go by, these trees will get even bigger and provide immense shade in this green space that the local community will be able to enjoy,” Ms Packer said.
