Late in 2023, Greater Sydney Landcare welcomed Mark Secombe to the team as the Streamwatch Coordinator.
Meet Mark
With approximately two decades of experience in both horticulture and environmental education and training, Mark is enthusiastic about utilising his skills and expertise to contribute to the success of Streamwatch in the South Eastern Sydney catchment.
Throughout his career, Mark has accumulated a wealth of experience in developing and delivering quality syllabus-based environmental education programs. These have focused on Science, Geography and Biology and more, where water quality measuring is a core focus.
Mark is adept at designing, delivering and tailoring programs to suit a diverse range of audiences, including K-12 students and volunteers from various backgrounds and sectors.
In his previous role as Visitor Programs Coordinator – Education at Centennial Parklands, Mark implemented new education initiatives. This resulted in a significant increase in visitation for formal and community programs.
As Environmental Education Coordinator at Sydney Olympic Park, where he was also the designated Streamwatch Coordinator, he was awarded an Official Streamwatch Highly Commended Award and invited to be a judge at the same recognition ceremony the following year.
Mark has experience working with diverse groups, including those with disabilities and varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and subsequently inclusive approach.

Greater Sydney Landcare and Streamwatch welcome Mark to the team and look forward to his engaging schools in south-eastern Sydney in water quality monitoring, amongst other tasks.
