If you planted with Creating Canopies in Bayside in 2023, this is the update for you.

Check out our monitoring pictures below from Kyeemagh, planted in September 2023, and Bardwell Valley, planted in July 2023.

You might not recognise the tiny tubestock you planted – the plants have been hard at work growing!

UPDATE: Kyeemagh Planting with Greystar

On Friday 8th September 2023, Creating Canopies hosted 18 corporate volunteers from Greystar. The team planted a mix of 1,000 trees, shrubs and grasses near to where Muddy Creek meets the Cooks River. The grasses and groundcovers were donated by Bayside Council.

Our Creating Canopies Project Manager Danielle Packer visited the site in late November 2023 and noted an 80% survival rate for this planting. Danielle said, “The plants are looking healthy.”

Danielle noted that the landowner had undertaken spot spraying of weeds surrounding plants to help ensure the native species could continue to thrive.

UPDATE: Coolibah Reserve – Bayside National Tree Day 2023 Planting

On Sunday 30th of July 2023, Bayside Council ran a planting for National Tree Day. Creating Canopies funded the trees and shrubs installed at this event. This planting took place at Coolibah Reserve in Bardwell Valley.

Creating Canopies Project Manager Danielle Packer visited the site in December 2023, and was pleased to see a 99% survival rate for the plants!

Danielle said, “The plants are growing very well. There are a few weeds around plants which are not significantly affecting tree growth and health.” Weed removal (mainly grasses) was recommended to the land manager.
