On Friday 15th March 2024, Greater Sydney Landcare hosted a corporate volunteering day for Air Liquide staff members at Marrickville Golf Club.

Greater Sydney Landcare’s Project Manager Danielle Packer and new bush regenerator Nicholas Brown led the day.

Environmental Corporate Volunteering in Sydney

Fourteen volunteers from Air Liquide generously dedicated their time to join forces with Greater Sydney Landcare and the Mudcrabs at Marrickville Golf Club, where they diligently tackled the removal of invasive weeds encroaching upon native plants.

This activity is pivotal as it paves the way for the future planting site—a crucial step towards enhancing the diversity of indigenous flora in the area.

Working Together for Ecological Restoration

Nestled alongside the tranquil banks of the Cooks River, Marrickville Golf Club assumes its responsibility in fostering a thriving ecosystem. Through the preservation of remnant vegetation like the riverine Mangroves, meticulous weed removal, and the strategic planting of a myriad of native trees, the club endeavours to enrich the canopy cover while providing essential habitat for local wildlife.

The tireless efforts of the environmental community group, the Mudcrabs, have been instrumental in championing these initiatives along the Cooks River.

In a heartening display of solidarity, representatives Chris and Peter from the Mudcrabs joined Air Liquide volunteers during the Bushcare event, extending gratitude for their invaluable support.

Club President Andrew Tighe, buoyed by the collective efforts, envisions transforming Marrickville Golf Club into a botanical haven where golf intersects with nature. He enthusiastically welcomes the assistance of corporate sponsors, recognising their role in realising this ambitious vision.

Thank you to Air Liquide, the Mudcrabs, and Marrickville Golf Club for their fantastic efforts to improve our environment.
