In March 2022, Creating Canopies was joined by volunteers including the Oatley Flora and Fauna Conservation Society to plant at Carlton Crescent in Carss Park.

This was during Stage 1 of Creating Canopies, which saw the planting of 100,000 native trees across Greater Sydney between 2020 and 2022. Proudly funded by the NSW Government.

The Carss Park planting was established with 500-600 tubestock—150 of which were canopy trees and shrubs that would grow to 3 metres and above funded by Creating Canopies.

Working Together to Maximise Our Impact

Adrian Polhill, Vice President of the Oatley Flora and Fauna Conservation Society wrote to us on the 1st of January 2024 about this planting and said, “It is truly wonderful to see this amazing ecological transformation in such a short time.”

“In the past seven years Georges River Council, Greater Sydney Landcare and Oatley Flora and Fauna Conservation Society have worked together on many re-greening projects. These projects have positively impacted our community in so many ways including creating canopies and cooler environments, and providing habitat for our precious flora and fauna,” Mr Polhill said.
