ING joined the Creating Canopies team for a corporate volunteering day at Marrickville Golf Club on the Wednesday 25th October. The big group of 37 ING volunteers came to plant 400 native trees and shrubs, and they did a fabulous job getting all the trees in the ground, guarded and watered.

Local Environmental Group the Mudcrabs Join the Day

The Mudcrabs also came to help! The Mudcrabs are a group of volunteers that care about the local environment and are committed to rehabilitating the Cooks River and fostering community spirit within the Cooks River Valley.

As ING’s planting was close to Cooks River, the Mudcrabs came to help and talk to the volunteers about how their efforts were contributing to a larger goal to improve the health of the Cooks River by adding native flora to the area.

Community & Conservation at Marrickville Golf Club

Andrew Tighe, Club President of Marrickville Golf Club wants to make the Golf Club a green sanctuary for wildlife and residents. The public are allowed to walk through the golf course for leisure. So, we saw many locals and their dogs walking through the lush golf club.

Andrew is working with the Mudcrabs to continue conservations works throughout the Club, so Creating Canopies will be there to add more trees soon!

From Little Things Big Things Grow

We also checked out another planting that Creating Canopies undertook 18 months ago. The trees are looking amazing! The ING volunteers enjoyed being able to see how the trees they planted would look in the same amount of time.

Creating Canopies For All

Thank you Marrickville Golf Course and ING for doing your bit for conservation in Sydney!

In time these trees and shrubs planted will provide habitat and cooling shade for all to enjoy, and help in the fight to combat urban heat.

Thank You ING!

ING sent another large group of 39 corporate volunteers to plant with Creating Canopies in September 2023. That group planted 1,000 trees and shrubs at Cessna Reserve in Middleton Grange in the Liverpool Local Government Area. Click the link to read more about that day.
