On Friday 12 April, Greater Sydney Landcare was pleased to host a corporate volunteering day for Pepper Money at Riverglade Reserve in Gladesville.

Matt Keighery led the day and had this to say about the event, “Twelve volunteers from Pepper Money teamed up with Greater Sydney Landcare, Hunters Hill Council and some community volunteers including representatives from Lane Cove Rotary and our Chair Bev Debrincat who runs the Habitat Network in the area.”

“400 native grasses and groundcovers, occasional Melaleucas and vines were planted to enhance the habitat corridor running along the Parramatta River and provide foraging resources for small birds,” Mr Keighery said.

“Mark Secombe from Greater Sydney Landcare’s Streamwatch program was also involved providing water quality testing and macroinvertebrate monitoring for volunteers while educating them on the health of Tarban Creek.”

“As well, the Pepper Money people helped remove weeds from the area and vines from the trees. Hunters Hill Council’s Bushland staff thought Pepper Money’s efforts were the best they had seen. The mix of community and corporate volunteers meant that many ideas and information could be shared and made for a much richer experience,” said Mr Keighery.

Pepper Money’s George Srour, Finance Forecasting & Modelling Senior Analyst and Chair of the Pepper Giving Committee, said, “Thanks very much for organising and facilitating the volunteer day on Friday. The Pepper staff were very engaged and found it extremely rewarding.”

“Let’s hope the birds find it just as beneficial,” Mr Keighery said.
