On Wednesday 24th April 2024, a group of 13 dedicated staff from Regal Innovations teamed up with Greater Sydney Landcare for a corporate volunteering day.

The mission? To plant native trees and shrubs that would grow to 3 meters and above to reduce urban heat through shade and evapotranspiration.

The Regal Innovations crew joined our Creating Canopies team at a picturesque private property in Grose Vale, rolling up their sleeves to plant an impressive 1,100 trees and shrubs alongside the landowner and family.

Leading the day was Creating Canopies Project Manager, Danielle Packer.

Ms Packer remarked on the significance of the day, saying, “We had a fantastic group from Regal Innovations who showed great energy and enthusiasm. Together, we planted a variety of native trees that will not only provide much-needed shade but also create a habitat for local wildlife.”

The landowner, Craig Fuller, volunteered his property for this important cause. Although he hasn’t personally spotted a Koala on his land, they’re known to inhabit the area, so we made sure to plant Koala-friendly trees such as Eucalyptus Crebra, which is a Koala favourite.

With the property being so expansive, there was plenty of walking, but the volunteers managed to plant all 1,100 trees before the day got too hot. The soft, fertile soil in the Hawkesbury area was also a plus, making the work easier and more enjoyable.

“I was very happy with the day and the efforts of the Greater Sydney Landcare team and volunteers,” Mr Fuller said.

The success of this volunteering day is a testament to the positive impact that corporate partnerships can have on our environment.

A big thank you to Regal Innovations for being a wonderful team to work with and to Craig Fuller for providing the land for this eco-friendly initiative. Their collective efforts will create a lasting legacy of shade, beauty, and habitat for years to come.
